What makes you anxious?

In today’s fast paced world, we have more sources of stress than ever. Between work, social life, education, finances, security, and daily challenges, it is more difficult than ever to balance these things properly.

So, do you think you are alone in feeling anxious? According to the following article, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Rather, Anxiety in our society is at an all time high!

As stated in an article from Time, a recent Survey found that out of 1000 adults, “39% reported being more anxious than they were at this time last year. Another 39% said they were equally anxious, while only 19% said they were less anxious than last year.”

What this shows is an ever increasing lack of ways to deal with anxiety in positive ways. Most people don’t seek professional help for their anxiety either, and end up in worse shape for it.

What You Need to Do to Stop Multitasking

In the last 2 blog posts we talked about why multitasking is bad and some tips on focusing on what you need to get done.

Here we list 13 things that you can do to start Single-Tasking instead of Multitasking:

  1. Eat breakfast without checking your phone, watching the news or reading the paper.
  2. Simply sit and observe when you’re on the train, bus, or in a waiting room.
  3. Watch a movie from start to finish without distractions.
  4. Listen to an album all the way through.
  5. Focus on the art of listening instead of talking.
  6. Capture to-dos in a notebook instead of multitasking.
  7. Have a morning ritual.
  8. Divide your tasks into 20 minute intervals.
  9. Declutter your workspace.
  10. Detox from technology one day a week. (You do need at least one day of rest a week. Disconnect!)
  11. Check your phone/emails at designated times of the day.
  12. Slow down your evening with a night ritual. Start shutting off lights one hour before bed and stay off the phone, computer or tablet.
  13.  Keep one browser window open at a time when online.

These might sound difficult for you to do, but if you start implementing at lease a few of them at a time, you’ll see that you’ll be more focused and productive.
