What You Need to Know About How Chronic Stress Affects the Brain

We’ve talked a lot about cortisol — the stress hormone — and its affects on the human body. Chronic stress causes increased cortisol levels and if it goes on too long, it damages the hippocampus.

The hippocampus is the part of the brain that controls:

  • Short-term memory
  • Our internal GPS – our conception of time, space and directions

How to Reduce Cortisol (the Stress Hormone) Naturally

You saw in our last post that cortisol, the stress hormone, can be the cause of hair loss. It also causes premature wrinkles, aches and pains, infections, insomnia, and many more ailments.

This video from the Natural Cures YouTube Channel has some tips to reducing the dreaded stress hormone, cortisol:

  1. Give up caffeine
  2. Sleep deeper and longer
  3. Exercise regularly – come to our Rage Room – we guarantee a workout!
  4. Keep blood sugar stable
  5. Drink plenty of water
  6. Take anti-stress vitamin supplements
  7. Meditate or listen to soothing music
